Botox is $10 per unit on your first visit, $11 per unit for VIP members and $13 per unit for returning patients. Those numbers are printed on the booking page, so what you see online is what you pay. Frown lines alone usually take about 20 units; forehead, frown lines and crow's feet together usually land between 40 and 60 units.

Is the $10 per unit price real, or does it only apply to a few units?

It applies to every unit on your first Botox visit, whether you treat 12 units or 60. There is no minimum purchase, no consultation fee and no membership required to get it. After the first visit, the rate moves to $13 per unit, or $11 per unit if you join the VIP membership.

How far is your clinic from Del Mar?

Our clinic is at 90 N Coast Hwy 101 in Encinitas. From Del Mar Village it is about 10 minutes north on Coast Highway 101 through Solana Beach and Cardiff. From Del Mar Heights and Del Mar Mesa plan 12 to 15 minutes, usually by I-5 north to Encinitas Boulevard. From Torrey Pines it is about 15 minutes, and from Carmel Valley 15 to 18 minutes.

Do you offer Dysport for Del Mar patients?

Yes. Dysport, Botox and Jeuveau are all available at every appointment. Dysport is dosed on a roughly 3-to-1 scale, so 60 Dysport units do the same work as 20 Botox units, and our per-unit pricing is scaled to match. The cost of treating an area is essentially the same whichever product you choose. Some patients prefer Dysport for larger areas like the forehead because it tends to spread a little more softly and can show results a day or two sooner.

How long will Botox last if I spend a lot of time outdoors?

Botox results typically last three to four months, and sun exposure does not break the product down. What sun does is create static lines, the creases visible when your face is at rest, which Botox cannot erase on its own. Daily sunscreen, a hat on the Torrey Pines trails and a retinoid at night protect the result far more than any scheduling trick.

What should I avoid after Botox if I surf or exercise?

Stay upright and skip lying face down for about four hours. Hold off on hard exercise, hot yoga, saunas and surfing until the next day, since heat and pressure around the injection sites can move product before it settles. After 24 hours there are no restrictions, and most Del Mar patients are back in the water the following morning.

How many units does a forehead or frown-line treatment take?

Frown lines between the brows usually take about 20 units. The forehead takes 10 to 20 depending on how high the hairline sits and how strong the muscle is. Crow's feet take 6 to 12 units per side. These are starting points; your injector watches you raise, frown and squint before settling on a number, and anything that needs a top-up at the two-week follow-up is handled then.

Can I get a Botox lip flip or masseter treatment on the same visit?

What Del Mar Patients Treat With Botox

Botox is a purified protein that quiets the signal between a nerve and the muscle it controls. Where a muscle folds the skin thousands of times a day, softening that movement lets the crease fade. The areas below are where Del Mar patients spend most of their units, with the ranges we actually work within. Your injector will ask you to raise, frown, squint and smile before any of these numbers become your numbers.

Frown Lines (the 11s)

The vertical lines between the brows, usually the first thing people notice in photos. About 20 units across five injection points. This is the area most first-time Del Mar patients start with, and it is the most forgiving if you want to test how Botox feels on your face.

Forehead Lines

The horizontal lines that show when you lift your brows. 10 to 20 units depending on forehead height and how much lift you want to keep. Treating the forehead without the frown lines can drop the brows, so the two are usually planned together.

Crow's Feet

Smile and squint lines at the outer eye. 6 to 12 units per side. Del Mar patients who spend afternoons on the beach or the bluff trail squint more than they realise, which is why this is the second most requested area here.

Brow Lift

Two to four units placed at the tail of the brow releases the muscle that pulls it down, lifting the outer brow a few millimetres. It opens the eye without surgery and is usually paired with crow's feet treatment.

Lip Flip

Four to six units along the upper lip border relax the muscle that curls the lip inward when you smile. The result is a little more visible upper lip without adding volume. $95 flat, under ten minutes, lasts about eight weeks.

Masseter (Jaw)

40 to 60 units total into the chewing muscles for grinding, clenching and TMJ discomfort, with a slimmer lower face as a side effect over six to twelve weeks. Common with Carmel Valley and Torrey Pines professionals who clench through long workdays.

Smaller areas are easy to add once you are in the chair. Bunny lines on the nose take one or two units a side. A dimpled or "orange peel" chin takes four to eight units. A gummy smile is softened with two to four units at the base of the nose. Vertical neck bands take 20 to 40 units across the platysma. None of these need a separate appointment, and none change the per-unit price.

The differences are in dosing scale, spread and how quickly they kick in.

Botox (Allergan)

The reference product, with the longest track record and the most predictable spread. Results begin at three to five days and peak at two weeks. Priced per unit at $10 first visit, $11 member, $13 regular.

Dysport (Galderma)

Dosed on roughly a 3-to-1 scale, so 60 Dysport units match 20 Botox units. It diffuses a little more, which suits a broad forehead, and many patients see it start a day or two sooner. Our per-unit price is scaled so the treatment costs the same.

Jeuveau (Evolus)

A newer product built for aesthetic use only, dosed unit for unit like Botox and priced identically. Patients who feel their Botox fades early sometimes find Jeuveau holds a little longer; others notice no difference. Worth trying at a maintenance visit.

On price, Dysport works out to $3.33/unit on a first visit against $10/unit for Botox, which is the same money once the 3-to-1 conversion is applied. You will never pay more because you chose one brand over another. Who Botox Works Best For

Botox is a good fit for most healthy adults whose lines are driven by muscle movement rather than by volume loss or sun damage. A quick way to tell the difference: if the line disappears when your face is fully relaxed, Botox will treat it well. If the line is etched in even at rest, Botox slows it from deepening but a dermal filler or resurfacing treatment may be what actually fills it.

Your First Botox Visit From Del Mar

Check-in and medical history

A short intake covers medications, previous treatments and anything that would change the plan, such as a blood thinner or an upcoming event. Arrive with a clean face if you can; make-up is removed at the chair if not.

Movement mapping and photos

Your injector asks you to raise, frown, squint and smile, marks where the muscles actually pull, and takes baseline photos. This is where the unit count is set, and where you can ask for a lighter or stronger result.

Injections

Fifteen to thirty minutes with a very fine needle. Most patients describe a brief pinch at each point. No numbing is needed, though ice is available. You can drive yourself home.

Aftercare and follow-up

Stay upright for four hours, skip exercise and heat until tomorrow, and expect tiny bumps to fade within half an hour. Results begin at three to five days and peak at two weeks, which is when your included follow-up is scheduled.

Botox and the Del Mar Outdoor Life

Del Mar is a town that lives outside, and that shapes both why people come in for Botox and how we advise them afterward. Squinting into afternoon glare at Dog Beach, mornings on the Torrey Pines bluff trail and weekend rounds at the golf course all load the muscles around the eyes and between the brows, which is why crow's feet and frown lines are the two most requested areas from Del Mar patients.

The product itself is not affected by sun. Botox binds at the nerve ending within hours of injection and nothing you do at the beach the next week changes that. What sun does is work on the skin above the muscle, turning dynamic lines into static ones that sit there even when you are relaxed. That is the line Botox slows but cannot erase. The practical advice is simple: SPF every morning, a brimmed hat on the trail, and a retinoid at night. Patients who do those three things consistently need fewer units over time, not more.

On the day of treatment, the only real restrictions are heat and pressure. Hold off on surfing, hot yoga, the sauna and anything that has you face-down for about 24 hours, since both can move product before it settles. After that there are no limits. Salt water, sunscreen and sweat are all fine.

A Realistic Botox Calendar for Del Mar

Results last three to four months for most people, a little less for very expressive faces and heavy exercisers, a little more for lighter doses in smaller areas. Booking a maintenance visit every twelve to sixteen weeks, before movement fully returns, keeps the result steady and usually lets your injector hold the unit count where it is.

If you have a date in mind, a wedding, a reunion, a photo shoot, book at least two weeks ahead so the result has peaked and any touch-up from the follow-up has settled. Beyond that, there is no good or bad season for Botox in Del Mar.

Our clinic sits on Coast Highway 101 in downtown Encinitas, just north of E Street and a few blocks from Moonlight Beach. Del Mar is the next city but one to the south, and every neighborhood reaches us in under 20 minutes without touching UTC or La Jolla traffic.

Del Mar Village and Camino del Mar

Head north on Camino del Mar, which becomes Coast Highway 101 at the Solana Beach line. Continue through Solana Beach and Cardiff into Encinitas; we are just north of E Street. About 10 minutes, with ocean views most of the way.

Del Mar Heights and Del Mar Mesa

Take Del Mar Heights Road to I-5 north, exit Encinitas Boulevard and head west to Coast Highway 101, then two blocks north. 12 to 15 minutes. Coming down Del Mar Heights Road to the coast and going north on 101 takes about the same time with less freeway.

Torrey Pines

North Torrey Pines Road runs straight into Camino del Mar and then Coast Highway 101, passing the racetrack and the San Dieguito Lagoon on the way. About 15 minutes. Weekday mornings before 9 a.m. are the one window to avoid.

Carmel Valley

From Del Mar Highlands or One Paseo, take Del Mar Heights Road west to I-5 north and exit Encinitas Boulevard, 15 to 18 minutes. Carmel Valley patients tend to book the 11 a.m. or 1 p.m. slot so the appointment fits inside a lunch break.

Appointments run Tuesday through Saturday. Late morning and early afternoon are the easiest windows for the drive up from Del Mar; the southbound return on I-5 after 3:30 p.m. on weekdays is the only stretch that can add ten minutes.
